Kick-off your Agadir desert tour to Merzouga by morning departure from your hotel. Your first destination will be Taroudant, known as “the little Marrakech”. Here, you will visit the ancient medina, massive ramparts, and local market.
Driving further east, you pass by Taliouine, famous for its saffron plantation fields. In Taznakht, you can learn about Berber rug craftsmanship. Next, your journey continues to the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
This kasbah is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most famous kasbahs in Morocco. After lunch, pay a visit to the kasbah with a local guide. He will provide you with insight into the history of this site and points out interesting features.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Film Studios where many Hollywood blockbusters are still intact. These studios host film sets of many Hollywood cinematic artworks. Such as “Gladiator”, “Kingdom of Heaven”n, and some scenes of the famous Tv series “Game of Thrones”.
Shortly after, you continue to Ouarzazate where you will spend the night in an authentic guest-house overlooking the town.
Following breakfast in the guest-house, you depart from Ouarzazate to the Toudgha Gorges. Stop at Skoura Oasis to discover its unlimited palm trees and visit the beautifully restored Kasbah Amredhil.
Afterward, you will travel off-road through the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. Along the way, you can witness and visit several Kasbahs, ideally placed amongst the palm trees.
Back on the paved road, your desert tour continues through the Valley of the Roses. Here, you will visit the local co-operatives producing fragrant-perfumes from abundant flowers. Next, you will arrive at the Toudgha Gorges where we stop for lunch and explore the gorge. In the afternoon, your trip continues to the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga.
Here in Merzouga, a camel ride leads to the summit of the dunes(250m). From the top of the dunes, the sunset and the views of the sand dunes are spectacular. At the camp, sip a glass of relaxing traditional tea and Moroccan biscuits.
At night, taste dinner under the starlit night sky of the Sahara Desert. Then, share an evening of Berber singing, and drumming around a campfire. Later on, sleep in a private nomad tent in a desert camp among the dunes.
Wake up early in the morning and climb up to the summit of the dunes. You can watch the spectacle of the sunrise. When the color of the golden sand dunes and the play of shadows are a beautiful sight.
After having breakfast, your desert adventure continues to Agdz. Travel via the villages of Rissani, Alnif, Tazzarine, and finally N’Qob where you will have lunch and explore afterward.
In the afternoon, the journey takes you to Tanasikht. From here, you drive off-track along the ancient Road of the Caravans and through the Dra’a valley. This allows a better view of the huge green oases and fortified kasbahs that stand tall among the palm trees.
At the end of the afternoon, a beautiful riad in Adgz offers dinner and a night’s rest.
After breakfast, you continue driving north from Agdez as far as Taznakht, well-known for its Berber rugs. Here, you will explore the town and learn about rug craftsmanship. Later, you continue your trip to Agadir crossing the Tizi-n-Ikhsane and Tizi-n-Tighatine passes.
In Taliouine, the heart of the saffron growing area of Morocco, you will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, the itinerary takes you to Taroudant. Here, you will explore the medina and the massive walls of Taroudant. Shortly after, you continue to Agadir which we reach by the end of the afternoon.
