Start your 3 days desert tour from Fes to Marrakech After breakfast in your riad in Fes. You will be picked up by your driver/guide in an air-conditioned 4×4 car. You will stop in Ifrane, famous for its sloping roofs to deal with the yearly snowfall. Here, there are plenty of opportunities to take photos.
Driving further south, near Azrou, you can get a glimpse of the Barbary apes in the oak forest. Your journey continues over the Middle Atlas Mountains to Midelt which will be the venue for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will drive through Errachidia and along the beautiful Ziz Valley. The drive continues to Erfoud, where you could visit the fossil artefact exhibits.
In Erg Chebbi, sip a relaxing glass of tea and almonds. Then, experience a sunset camel ride and take photos wearing blue turbans.
Later at night, dinner is served under the starlit sky of the Sahara. Followed by a small party of Berber music and drumming around a campfire. Then, a private nomad tent in a Merzouga desert camp offers night rest.
Early in the morning, a camel ride leads to the summit of the dunes. From here, you can witness the spectacle of the sunrise and enjoy the magical atmosphere.
After breakfast, your desert adventure continues with a scenic drive as far as Tinghir. Here, you will explore the Toudgha Gorges. Wander the green palm fields, and the massive canyons blending perfectly with the scenery.
After lunch, you will continue to Dades Valley, with a stop to photograph the monkey feet, an amazing rock formation. From here, drive through the curvy road of Dades Gorges, one of the most beautiful pieces of roads. An authentic guest house offers dinner, occasionally a musical play, and night rest.
After breakfast, there will be opportunities to explore the valley some more. Then, you drive along the Valley of the Roses to Kel’aa M’gouna. Here, you can visit the organic cosmetic products co-operatives and learn how the locals make rose-scented perfumes.
The journey continues via the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, to Skoura Oasis. Wander its palm tree fields and visit the beautifully restored Kasbah Amredhil.
After a short drive, you arrive at Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a film location for many Hollywood blockbusters. Including “The Gladiator”, “Lawrence of Arabia” and the famous TV series “Game of Thrones”.
You can have lunch in one of the many restaurants by the riverbank. Next, you will visit the kasbah with a local guide to explore this historic site.
From here, you continue your adventure via the Ounila Valley to Kasbah Telouet. This kasbah was a residential palace and is beautifully decorated with tiling and woodwork.
