Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in a comfortable 4×4 car – and you start your 5 Days Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech. The first stop of your trip will be the delightful city of Ifrane. It is known as the Switzerland of Morocco because of its Alpine chalet-style houses, which is very unusual in Morocco.
Next, enjoy a scenic drive through the cedar forest as far as Azrou. Here, stop to feed and play with the Barbary marquees. Then, travel over the Middle Atlas Mountains and arrive at Midelt in time for lunch.
Next, you drive via the Tizi-n-Talghemt pass and along the Ziz Valley. This valley is full of huge palm groves and unlimited kasbahs perfectly positioned among the palm trees.
Then, you arrive at Erfoud where you will visit the fossils exhibits where you can see how the locally found fossils and marble are worked into souvenirs and artefacts. There is no obligation to buy, but the exhibits are worth exploring!
Next, you cross Rissani and then arrive at Erg Chebbi dunes. From here, a camel ride leads to the summit of the dunes from which the sunset is spectacular. At the campsite, you will be shown your private nomad tent and served a welcoming glass of mint tea and Moroccan biscuits.
At night, taste dinner in the middle of the Sahara. Share an evening of traditional music around a fire camp with the nomads and the other guests. Later at night, your private nomad tent in a Merzouga desert camp offers night rest.
After breakfast in the camp, we offer you 2 options to choose from for your desert adventure.
Option 1: Enjoy a full-day camel trekking in the wind-blown dunes of Merzouga. You can either ride the camels or walk behind them as they warry what’s needed for your lunch. Your nomad camel men will guide you through the Sahara Desert and prepare your lunch.
Experience transportation the nomadic way and enjoy lunch in an oasis among the dunes. You will trek for about 3 hours in the morning – to discover the most beautiful sand dunes in Morocco. After lunch, you will trek for another 3 hours returning to the desert camp.
Option 2: Spend half a day in the desert and after lunch, you take the car and experience 4×4 driving around the sand dunes. Drive to Khamlia village to sip a glass of tea with a nomad family.
Then, watch the Sub-Saharan perform Gnawa music. Back at the camp, enjoy a sunset camel ride to the summit of the Erg Chebbi dunes.
At night dinner is served and followed by an evening of Berber music and drumming. Overnight in your private nomad tent.
Get up early in the morning and ascent the dunes. You will witness a gorgeous sunrise and experience moments of pure peacefulness. Back at the camp, breakfast is served, and then you continue your Fes desert trip to Dades Gorges.
Travel along Berber villages; Rissani, the first village after the desert and then Tinghir. In Toudgha Gorges, take a walk alongside the riverbank and through the massive canyons. If you desire, you could go for a short hike beyond the gorges with a local guide.
After lunch, your itinerary continues to the Dades Gorges with a stop to photograph the monkey rock formation. In the Dades Valley, you will explore the valley, full of olive trees and green gardens. At night, dinner and overnight in a beautiful guest house overlooking the valley.
After breakfast, there will be opportunities to explore more of the valley. Back in the car, your adventure continues with an off-road drive along the Boutartar piste to visit the nomads and sip a glass of tea with them. Next, you continue through the valley of the Roses as far as Kel’aa M’gouna. Here, you will visit the local cosmetic co-operatives, producing fragrant perfumes and organic beauty products.
From here, you travel through the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. Stop to explore the Valley of the Roses, then continue to Skoura Oasis for lunch. Here, you can wander the palm tree fields and learn about life in the south. Then, visit the beautiful Kasbah Amredhil and tour its small museum. This kasbah is built of adobe and represents the old housing in southern Morocco.
Next, a 45-minute drive leads to Ouarzazate, where a beautiful riad offers dinner and a night’s rest.
Today, after breakfast in the riad, continue your Fes to Marrakech desert tour. The first stop will be in Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a backdrop for many Hollywood movies – Including “Gladiator” and some scenes of the famous TV series “Game of Thrones”.
You will visit the Kasbah with a local guide. He will explain the history of this site and will point out interesting features.
From here, you travel along the beautiful Ounila Valley as far as Kasbah Telouet. It is a former palatial residence to the last Pasha of Marrakech and the Glaoui tribe. You will visit the kasbah with a local guide and have lunch.
In the afternoon, you travel via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass and over the Atlas Mountains. Along the road, stop at panoramic viewpoints for photos and breaks. Your 5-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour at around 18:00 – as your driver will escort you to your riad.
